Letter to the Editor: Immigration

The Editor,
Letters Page,
The Irish Times,

Dear Editor,

Aine Ni Chonaill of Immigration Control ( letters 20th February) wrote when did any Political Party ask if the current and anticipated level of immigration was what the Irish People wanted. Well, in 1997, a certain Aine Ni Chonaill of Immigration Control contested the General Election and received 0.8% of the vote with her opponents receiving the balance of 99.2%. Five years later, standing in a different constituency, she received 926 votes while her opponents won 43,090. They question was indeed asked ….and answered.

Yours sincerely,

Councillor Dermot Lacey
