Nominated to Dublin Transport Authority
I was delighted, at the March monthly meeting of the Dublin Regional Authority, to receive the support of my colleagues on the Authority for nomination as its representative to the proposed Dublin Transportation Authority.
Despite the fact that the Authority has members drawn from the four Dublin Local Authorities and from Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, the Green Party, Sinn Fein, Independents and the PD’s this was unanimously agreed.
The nomination follows a recent meeting between the Authority and Minister Noel Dempsey at which the Minister invited the Dublin Regional Authority to nominate a representative.
While I have for a very long time advocated for the establishment of a Dublin Transportation Authority I have been critical and remain critical of the model introduced by the Minster and particularly the proposed extension of its remit to become a National Transport Authority.
