Dermot Lacey is a Labour Party Councillor for the Pembroke-Rathmines Ward on Dublin City Council. He represents Donnybrook, Sandymount, Ranelagh, Rathmines, Rathgar, Milltown, Terenure, Harold's Cross and Ballsbridge. Dermot has been a member of Dublin City Council since 1993, and lives in Beech Hill, Donnybrook.

While we have had some political success in forcing the Government to reverse the removal of the automatic entitlement to a Medical Card for the Over 70s, we have not so far been able to persuade them to reverse the cuts in education expenditure. These cuts will seriously impact on the ability of schools and teachers to deliver the type of quality service that we all want for our children. Pressure must be maintained on the Government on this and Labour intends to keep doing so.
