Planning Permission for UCD Grounds & Jefferson Smurfit Buildings

Following consideration of the appeal from the Developers and the submission I made against that appeal, An Bord Pleanala has decided to refuse permission for the development proposed for UCD grounds and the Jefferson Smurfit buildings.

This is a significant victory for the local community and is the second time that An Bord Pleanala has upheld one of my objections against inappropriate development on this site.

It is a clear lesson to developers that any inadequate development that impacts negatively on the quality of life of the community will be vigorously challenged.

Given the significant development plans already in train for the UCD campus we suggest that the Authorities there and the Developer might learn the lesson of two planning defeats and refrain from imposing such
massive development where it is neither wanted nor required.

Ruairi Quinn TD and I will continue to monitor this and keep residents informed.
