Madam, – Tony Allwright (March 10th) is simply wrong in his assertion that social democracy is some sort of gradual transition to real socialism. It is a far more substantive philosophy than that.

Madam, – There was an extraordinary gap between the nonsensical figures produced by the so-called Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government in relation to local government financing on page 6 of your edition of March 2nd and the realities as outlined in the Editorial on page 19.
