Letter to Editor – Habitat for Humanity Project

The Editor,
Letters Page,
The Irish Times,
D’Olier Street,
Dublin 2.

Dear Editor,

Congratulations to Louise Holden and The Irish Times on the excellent article (27th April) outlining the positive work of young people from Dublin involved in the Habitat for Humanity project. This sort of community endeavour is replicated in virtually every community and Parish throughout our country.

Unfortunately despite a subsidy of nearly E150million per annum our Public Service (sic) Broaadcaster RTE has proven itself incapable of portraying young people in this positive light. A little more coverage of the positive rather than heavy coverage of the few “bad ones” would surely give young people a reason to believe that society values them. Unfortunately too I have come to expect no better from RTE.

Yours sincerely,

Councillor Dermot Lacey
