Lacey Accepts Fianna Fáil Challenge
“Lacey Accepts Fianna Fail Challenge”
Statement by Councillor Dermot Lacey
Labour Councillor Pembroke Ward – Dublin City Council
“Fianna Fail Deputy Michael Mulcahy, concluded a rather inane Press release with a challenge to any Public Representative to debate with him on that party’s policies for Dublin.
I readily accept that challenge” says Labour Councillor and former Lord Mayor of Dublin Dermot Lacey.
“After weeks of current affairs reportage consisting of opinion polls commentary or whose son or whose daughter will inherit the family seat, I would relish the opportunity to highlight the failure by Fianna Fail to deliver to Dublin”.
“I would welcome the opportunity to highlight the tragic and unprecedented increase in our housing lists. I would welcome the opportunity to highlight the chaos in our traffic and transport policy seven years after this Fianna Fail/ PD Government took power. I would welcome the opportunity to highlight the backwards steps we have taken in relation to Local Government and the withdrawal of the right of Dubliners to elect their own Lord Mayor.”
“Much more importantly I would welcome the opportunity to outline how much Labour has already delivered to Dublin and how much we want to deliver in the future”.
“I will clear my diary of any canvassing commitments over the next fortnight to debate with Deputy Mulcahy in any Public Forum under an agreed independent facilitator or Chairperson”.
“I am proud of Labour’s record in Dublin and I look forward to meeting Deputy Mulcahy in the near future or like other Fianna Fail candidates is he all press statement and no substance ?”
