Time for the PDs to put up or shut up on Poolbeg Peninsula

“Time for the P.D’s to put up or shut up on Poolbeg Peninsula”
“Time for Fianna Fail candidates to stop the pretence”

Statement by Councillor Dermot Lacey
Labour Councillor Pembroke

“The news that the Government intends to proceed with the National Infrastructure Board and that it will have the power to authorise the building of Incinerators provides the Progressive Democrats with the opportunity to deliver on their promises to the people of Dublin South East and to halt for good the proposed location of an Incinerator on the Pollbeg Peninsula” according to former Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Dermot Lacey.

Councillor Lacey said “in the run in to the June Local Elections, P.D. Minister Michael Mc Dowell and Local Election hopeful Wendy Hederman together with their Fianna Fail ally Chris Andrews never stop telling us of their opposition to this disastrous proposal for Dublin”.

“However if the National Infrastructure Board Bill contains the provisions indicated in the media the power to determine this will be given to an unelected body who we can be sure will deliver the Incinerator so demanded by the misnamed Department of the Environment”.

“The simple fact is the proposed Incinerator is the preferred option of the Fianna Fail controlled Custom House, the Fianna Fail Minister Martin Cullen and the PD/ Fianna Fail Government.”

“The time has come for those who claim to be opposed to this unwanted and unsuitable proposal for an Incinerator at the heart of Dublin City to oppose this Bill, in the Dail, in the Cabinet room and in the City Council”.
